Theory and perception of insecurity and fear of crime

Theory of incivility states that the existence of social disorder or physical deterioration affect people to feel insecure, because although it is noted that the perception of insecurity is multifactorial, it is based on the hypothesis that disorder and physical deterioration in a park or community center are crucial for people to feel insecure, and in addition there is a high margin of action on the part of the public policy of situational crime prevention.

The victimization theory states that having been a victim of the crime or that a person has been a victim affects the feeling of insecurity. It is appropriate to point out that it is likely that a person perceives his environment as very safe, but feels vulnerable to a certain type of crime, or on the contrary, it may happen that a person lives in a neighborhood that has been called one of the most dangerous in the city, that even he recognizes the difficulties that surround him, but nevertheless is not afraid of being a victim or feels insecure. in some cases perception exceeds reality but in other cases the opposite occurs.
